About the Raw Material Department

The Raw Material Department at Nymølle Stone Industries consists of seven employees working in offices across Zealand, Funen, and Jutland. The department plays a central role in identifying suitable new areas with gravel, negotiating agreements with landowners, handling the application process, assessing environmental impacts, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards. All employees report to Raw Material Manager Kent Grimm Thornberg.

Senior Raw Material Geologist

As a Senior Raw Material Geologist, you will have a central role where your knowledge and experience in raw materials will play a crucial role in current and future tasks. Initially, you will work closely with the technical manager, but eventually, you will independently handle various phases of the projects. Your responsibilities include:

  • Regulatory Processing: Administering and coordinating regulatory processing and application processes in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Raw Material Applications: Performing and managing raw material applications, including documentation, submission, and follow-up. You will also communicate with authorities, involve citizens, NGOs, and consult with external advisors such as hydrogeologists, geophysicists, acousticians, and biologists.
  • Land Use Permits: Applying for and managing land use permits when necessary for raw material deposits.
  • Raw Material Mapping: Participating in and conducting raw material mapping in collaboration with other geologists and specialists.
  • Resource Assessments: Preparing and maintaining resource assessments for raw material deposits.
  • EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment): Applying EIA experience from advisory or public positions to manage and report on environmental impacts related to raw material activities.
  • GIS Application: Using GIS tools like MapInfo for geographic data analysis, mapping, and visualization.
  • Fieldwork: Conducting fieldwork at drilling rigs to collect samples and data, including geological mapping and sampling.
  • Public Meetings: Attending public meetings regarding raw material projects and responding to questions and concerns from stakeholders and the community.

Qualifications of a Sr. Raw Material Geologist

  • Experience with raw material geology and knowledge of Quaternary geology/Ice Ages in Denmark.
  • Ability to manage complex regulatory processes and applications.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and authorities.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility while contributing to a team environment.
  • Analytical skills to handle complex tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate political interests and communicate clearly and accurately.
