Section Manager for Wastewater Treatment Plants

Novafos / Full time

At Novafos, we are everyday heroes in water management—delivering clean drinking water to taps, managing rainwater in urban areas, and returning treated wastewater to the natural environment. We are approximately 400 dedicated employees who work every day to create solutions where society and the environment can thrive side by side.

Novafos are now seeking a Section Manager for Project 1 (Wastewater Treatment Plants) who will act as the driving force behind a highly skilled project team and ensure sustainable solutions across our facilities.

A role with responsibility, professionalism, and development

As Section Manager for Project 1, you will be responsible for a specialized team of 11 project managers working with the operation, maintenance, and renewal of Novafos’ existing wastewater treatment plants. Part of the team also contributes to the preparation of future water resource centers, which will gradually replace the current facilities—an important step in realizing Novafos’ long-term strategy.

You will have overall responsibility for the team’s project portfolio, ensuring progress, effective resource prioritization, and robust processes so that projects are successfully transitioned into operations. At the same time, you will serve as a key sparring partner, supporting both the professional and personal development of your team members.

You will be part of the management group, contributing to well-being, culture, and strategic development across the organization. In close collaboration with fellow managers, you will also help prepare and report on investment agreements to our nine owner municipalities.

Your leadership style

They are looking for a leader who delivers results through others—someone who can unite a team around shared goals and strike a balance between clear direction and autonomy.

As a leader, we expect you to:

  • Be credible, clear, and inclusive

  • Communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback

  • Work in a goal-oriented and structured manner while remaining open to new ways of collaboration

Your responsibilities

As Section Manager, you will be the driving force behind the team’s success. Your tasks will include:

  • Leading and developing your team and strengthening cross-functional collaboration

  • Managing the project portfolio with a focus on time, budget, and quality

  • Acting as a professional sparring partner for both experienced and junior employees

  • Contributing to tender processes, investment agreements, and collaboration with consultants and contractors

Your background

They expect you to have a technical education, such as an engineering degree or a marine engineering qualification, along with several years of management experience—preferably as a Project Director or Team Manager. You have experience with project portfolio management, resource planning, and budget responsibility.

Experience with construction and utility projects—particularly wastewater treatment plants—is a strong advantage. Familiarity with procurement processes and collaboration with consultants and contractors will further strengthen your profile.

Work-life balance

At Novafos, we believe that a healthy balance between work and personal life is essential for well-being and job satisfaction. We respect your working hours and prioritize a safe and stable working environment.

In addition, we offer:

  • Flexible working hours and a 37-hour workweek, including lunch

  • The option to work from home 1–2 days per week

  • Support for your professional development through courses and education

  • Modern office and parking facilities at Blokken 9 in Birkerød

  • Access to a canteen, fitness center, massage scheme, health insurance, and social events
