Project Manager for Urban Development Projects

Novafos / Full time

Novafos is seeking a Project Manager for urban development projects – managing stormwater and wastewater solutions in new urban areas

At Novafos, we are everyday heroes in water management – delivering clean drinking water to taps, managing rainwater in urban areas, and discharging treated wastewater into the sea. We are approximately 400 dedicated employees working to ensure that society and the environment can thrive in harmony.

We are now looking for a coordinating Project Manager who will be responsible for ensuring water management solutions in new urban developments, enabling Novafos to continue its important work of creating sustainable, green solutions for future generations.

A role defined by urban development, climate focus, and cross-disciplinary collaboration

You will become part of an urban development team working with a shared planning approach to urban development at Novafos. The Urban Development team within our Planning Department works closely with colleagues from our Project Department, who are responsible for construction and infrastructure projects. Together, we support and enable urban development across our nine owner municipalities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Project Manager for urban development projects in close collaboration with the relevant municipality and property developers

  • Collaborating with and supporting colleagues working with urban development in both the planning and construction phases

  • Contributing to strong cross-functional collaboration between planning and execution in urban development and site preparation projects

A strong team awaits you

Your closest colleagues will be a team of 13 skilled professionals within a Planning Department of approximately 100 employees. The department works with a wide range of planning tasks related to wastewater, climate adaptation, and urban development. We value engagement, collaboration, and interdisciplinary cooperation, giving you ample opportunity to work across teams and professional disciplines.

Your background

Novafos expect that you have:

  • A relevant education and professional background, for example as an engineer or similar

  • At least 5 years of experience in wastewater and drainage engineering, preferably supplemented by certification as a sewer contractor

  • Experience with site development from the private sector, utilities, or consultancy firms

  • A constructive mindset, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing

  • Knowledge of environmental and wastewater legislation

  • Understanding of municipal planning hierarchies, including wastewater plans and local development plans

  • Experience with hydraulic modelling calculations

  • Possibly formal project management training

  • A valid driver’s license (passenger car)

Work-life balance matters

At Novafos, we believe that a healthy balance between work and personal life is essential for well-being and job satisfaction. We respect working hours and prioritize a safe and stable working environment, allowing room for family life and personal commitments.

They offer:

  • Flexible working hours and a 37-hour workweek, including lunch

  • The possibility to work from home 1–2 days per week

  • Attractive employment terms under the Danish Local Government (KL) collective agreement, including competitive salary and pension

  • Support for professional development through courses, internal training, and education

  • Modern office and parking facilities at Blokken 9 in Birkerød

  • Access to a canteen, fitness center, yoga classes, massage scheme, health insurance, an active staff association, and social events such as summer parties, Christmas celebrations, and DHL relay races
