Municipality Manager – Gentofte
Do you have a strong understanding of regulatory authorities and wastewater management? Would you like to be the key link that connects planning, operations, and regulatory authorities in everyday practice?
At Novafos, we are looking for a Municipality Manager to work closely with Gentofte Municipality and ensure effective handling of stormwater, wastewater, and climate adaptation—both in daily operations and long-term planning.
You will serve as a central point of contact between the municipality and Novafos, taking on a varied role where technical insight, dialogue, and coordination are essential.
A role with professional responsibility and close cross-functional collaboration
As Municipality Manager for Gentofte Municipality, you will have a broad area of responsibility with many touchpoints—both internally within Novafos and externally with the municipality, citizens, and consultants. Internally, you will work closely with our Operations Department, project managers, and specialists, and you will be an important sparring partner to the Programme Manager responsible for coordinating Novafos’ climate adaptation projects in the municipality.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Ensuring an overview of activities and tasks within wastewater and climate adaptation in the municipality
-
Coordinating and following up on daily operational and wastewater-related matters, including pipelines, citizen inquiries, and ensuring professional follow-up
-
Acting as a project team member in authority-related matters, including environmental impact assessments
-
Assisting with regulatory cases such as discharge permits and connection approvals
-
Supporting colleagues with clarification of environmental legislation, planning conditions, ownership issues, and dialogue with the municipality
-
Maintaining close dialogue with operations regarding operational incidents, pipeline ownership, and wastewater facilities
-
Facilitating and participating in coordination and collaboration meetings with the municipality and internally within Novafos
-
Supporting the municipality’s planning processes, such as wastewater plans and related addenda
Your path to the role
To succeed in this position, it is important that you thrive in cross-functional collaboration and have strong communication skills—both internally and externally. You show respect for different perspectives and are quick to familiarize yourself with new professional challenges.
Your profile is further characterized by the fact that you:
-
Have experience as a case officer, planner, or regulatory professional in a municipality or utility company
-
Possess solid knowledge of wastewater management and strong insight into regulatory tasks and planning processes related to the wastewater sector
-
Thrive in interdisciplinary collaboration and are motivated by interacting with colleagues across departments as well as external stakeholders such as authorities, citizens, consultants, and other utility companies
-
Have knowledge of environmental and wastewater legislation, as well as the municipal planning hierarchy
-
Work in a structured and service-oriented manner and are able to manage multiple parallel tasks
-
Have technical understanding of sewer systems (an advantage, but not a requirement)
A strong team awaits you
You will become part of a professionally strong team of 16 employees with diverse backgrounds. We foster a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and are always ready to support and complement one another. The team is part of a Planning Department with approximately 100 colleagues working on a wide range of planning tasks within wastewater and climate adaptation.
Work-life balance
At Novafos, we believe that a healthy balance between work and personal life is essential for well-being and job satisfaction. We respect your working hours and prioritize a safe and stable working environment, allowing room for family life and personal commitments.
In addition, we offer:
-
Flexible working hours and a 37-hour workweek, including lunch
-
A high degree of autonomy and responsibility in task execution, with significant influence on planning and prioritization of your work
-
The option to work from home up to two days per week
-
Attractive employment terms under the Danish Local Government (KL) collective agreement, including competitive salary and pension
-
Support for your professional development through courses, internal training, and education
-
Modern office facilities at Blokken 9 in Birkerød, including secure bicycle parking and car parking spaces
-
Access to a canteen, fitness center, massage scheme, health insurance, an active staff association, and social events such as summer parties, Christmas celebrations, yoga classes, and DHL relay races
