About the position as IT Specialist Network

In the role of Network Specialist in Frederiksberg Municipality’s Server, Network, and Integration team, you are not only responsible for managing and maintaining the municipality’s extensive network infrastructure, but you also have the opportunity to shape the future strategy for Frederiksberg Municipality’s network infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include establishing and configuring advanced network solutions in exciting projects, where you will act as a central partner and advisor in the municipality’s construction projects. Your work plays a crucial role in ensuring that their IT infrastructure operates reliably and efficiently.

Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating, managing, and communicating with all the municipality’s vendors, as well as configuring essential security measures such as firewalls, VMware NSX, and VPN. Your tasks will also include the operation and maintenance of network equipment in the data center, including the administration of rack systems and monitoring of power supply, cooling, and security.

Regarding Frederiksberg Municipality’s short-term goals, they are working towards replacing access points and cleaning up the firewall, as well as outsourcing data centers. In the long term, they strive to adhere to the network strategy that you and the team will help create.

You will also provide 2nd and 3rd level operational support for the municipality’s systems and infrastructure services, which involves careful monitoring, maintenance, and competent support for operational support systems on the network side.

You will be part of the Server, Network, and Integration team, which means that you will also have an impact on establishing and developing the IT infrastructure of Denmark’s 6th largest municipality through complex business-oriented tasks related to 7,000 users. Collaboration is essential in Frederiksberg Municipality’s team, as they often have overlapping tasks and work closely together to deliver efficient service to their end-users.

There is a focus on ensuring high availability and performance for critical systems and applications in the municipality’s data center while meeting business needs and complying with standards and guidelines. They also value the social environment in the workplace and offer monthly Friday bars as well as the possibility of remote work for their employees.

Expectations for IT Specialist Network

Frederiksberg Municipality is looking for a committed employee who prioritizes quality and sustainable solutions. You have the ability to take responsibility, collaborate effectively, and meet deadlines. Your proactive approach and problem-solving ability, including understanding the needs of users, are crucial. At the same time, you are technically versatile and adaptable, value professionalism, and are not tied to a specific technological approach.

In addition, it is expected that you:

• Have experience in the operation and configuration of both wired (Fiber, MPLS, DSL, Ethernet) and wireless networks (Wi-Fi), including knowledge of network products and solutions such as Cisco.
• Have experience with network security solutions and protocols such as 802.1x, WPA-Enterprise, and NLP, as well as firewall management and configuration.
• Possess knowledge of data center operations, including racks and cabling, and an interest in both physical and logical security.
• Have experience with technical integrations between systems.
• Have experience with vendor management, including the preparation of requirement specifications (development and documentation of technical requirements).

It is an advantage if you have experience or knowledge of:

• Familiarity with Zero-touch provisioning of network equipment.
• PKI and certificate management (security infrastructure)
• VMware NSX

Practical Information

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with qualifications and the applicable collective agreement. You will become a part of the IT department under Analysis, Strategy, Digitalization, and IT (ASDI). You will report to the manager of the Server, Network, and Integrations team. The expected start date is as soon as possible.
