IT Project Manager
About NTG
NTG – Nordic Transport Group is a Danish logistics company that transports goods within and outside Europe by truck, ship, and plane. Additionally, NTG is home to some of the most skilled and ambitious employees in the industry, who design and tailor logistics solutions for transportation companies in Scandinavia. After just 13 years, the company now consists of 80 acquired companies, both small and medium-sized, each with its own expertise in its respective transport field.
The company is unique as it is listed on NASDAQ, but a large portion of the shares are owned by employees due to a partnership model. This organizational structure ensures engagement, dedication, and well-being among all employees, which is one of the reasons for NTG’s significant and continuous growth.
About the department
As an IT Project Manager, you will be part of the Project Management function in the CIO Office. Here, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration, working across different functions in the office while reporting to NTG’s director and other functions in the CIO Office, including IT Services, IT Business Services, and Security. Additionally, you will collaborate with 35 IT colleagues located across Europe and the USA.
NTG has an informal and relaxed work environment, with a focus on both social and professional events. The office houses passionate, action-oriented employees who are dedicated to their craft and thrive on complex tasks and a fast-paced environment.
About the role
As an IT Project Manager, you will hold overall project responsibility at NTG and act as the coordinator for the company’s exciting IT projects, beyond just the technical IT responsibility. You will play a key role in maintaining oversight and ensuring that projects proceed as planned. If a project deviates, you will ensure that it gets back on track and runs smoothly.
NTG handles many projects simultaneously, and they are often interconnected, creating complexity. Therefore, you need to be capable—and enjoy—handling multiple tasks at once in such an environment.
Projects vary in nature, as do their durations. They typically run for about six months and often involve acquiring new companies in either existing or new countries. NTG is continuing to grow rapidly, continuously forming new partnerships, and more acquisitions are underway, contributing to a fast-paced and vibrant office atmosphere.
When acquiring companies, your role as Project Manager will involve assessing what is feasible in terms of IT, identifying challenges, and understanding the requirements of the relevant country. In an international environment, you will need to communicate and share knowledge with the company’s owners, serving as a bridge between them and NTG. You should understand cultural differences and ensure local support within the company, while also securing IT resources for the project.
This will require preparatory work to ensure a smooth rollout for the acquired companies, including migrating them to NTG’s IT systems, updating their software, moving data centers, ensuring scanning systems, and more.
At the same time, you will be responsible for conducting regular follow-up meetings on individual projects to ensure that all project stakeholders are satisfied, and that timelines are being met.
You will work in an agile manner and help define how NTG manages projects in terms of processes, procedures, and project tools. You will help lay the foundation for what will eventually be a Project Management department, potentially including junior project managers.
Thus, the role requires someone who enjoys shaping the framework for NTG’s projects and who can work independently and proactively. You must thrive in a role where you collaborate with many people and adapt your communication to different audiences. Additionally, you should be skilled at managing expectations and conveying your knowledge in a way that fosters understanding across different cultures.
Requirements
In the role of IT Project Manager, you are expected to have the following experience:
- 5+ years of experience in project management, including in an international environment.
- Experience in acting as a coordinator and holding overall project responsibility for multiple projects at once.
- Experience in serving as a bridge between business and partners.
- The ability to adapt your communication and convey your knowledge in a way that fosters understanding and support from the recipient.
- A strong understanding of and insight into cultural differences across European countries.
