Electronic/Firmware Engineer
Would you like to be part of a rapidly growing and innovative company, where you will contribute to developing exciting solutions, especially for the pharmaceutical and life-science industries?
Ellab’s mission is to enhance consumer safety, and as an Electronic/Firmware Engineer in their development department, you will help build the next generation of logger systems used in extreme environments. You will join a collaborative and open team, where engineering curiosity and shared problem-solving are highly valued.
Ellab is a leading international manufacturer of precision measurement equipment and analysis software for the validation and monitoring of thermal processes in the life-science industry. The company has a proud tradition and strong growth in markets worldwide. A large development department ensures that the product portfolio is continually maintained and enhanced with features that strengthen competitiveness. Mutual respect and an enjoyable working atmosphere are key values.
About the team
At the headquarters in Denmark, approximately 180 passionate employees work across various departments. The development team consists of 45 dedicated professionals in hardware, firmware, software development, and testing. As the new Electronic/Firmware Engineer, you will become part of a team of ten skilled colleagues, most of whom are electronics engineers with a mix of hardware and firmware responsibilities.
About the position
The role primarily involves working on Ellab’s new logger platform, building both the electronics and firmware for the next-generation TrackSense Pro series. These products must operate reliably in extreme conditions: from -90 to +150 degrees Celsius. Responsibilities include:
- Hardware design: from schematic and component selection to PCB layout and prototype bring-up.
- Firmware development in C/C++ with a focus on embedded systems for battery-operated, low-power devices.
- Testing and troubleshooting prototypes using tools such as oscilloscopes and soldering equipment.
- Supporting the handover to PTA/production and contributing to documentation.
While tasks are assigned as part of the overall project plan, there is significant freedom to influence how challenges are solved.
In addition to developing the new logger platform, the role also includes maintenance, bug fixing, and further development of existing products. Everyone in the department contributes to these tasks when needed.
This is a great opportunity to grow your skills within both embedded firmware and complex electronics in a supportive and innovative environment.
About you
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- A degree in Electronics Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in hardware and firmware development
- Experience with electronics for low-power, battery-operated measurement equipment, including battery management, power supply, microprocessors, and sensor design
- A hands-on attitude: comfortable with prototype work, measurement instruments, and soldering
- Familiarity with wireless communication such as Zigbee, Thread, NFC, Bluetooth
- Embedded C/C++ skills, ideally for STM32 or similar
- Experience with EMC, structured documentation, and tools like Altium, Jira, Confluence, and Git is a plus
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
You are curious, self-driven, and not afraid to show work in progress or ask for help. You thrive in a culture of openness, enjoy sharing ideas, and learning from others. You take responsibility for your tasks but enjoy being part of a supportive and informal team.
