About Campus Construction

You will be a part of the Campus Construction section (CB), which is Copenhagen University’s (KU) construction management unit. CB consists of four groups and is led by the building manager.

The unit comprises 35-40 dedicated employees, primarily with strong construction backgrounds. You will be responsible for your own portfolio of projects, primarily working together with KU’s operations unit and framework advisers.

The construction projects mainly involve maintenance and renovation projects, varying from small projects to some large projects up to approximately DKK 60-70 million. KU also places a strong emphasis on internal collaboration, and as such, we work closely with colleagues in the section who are involved in the commissioning of the university’s major building projects such as the Niels Bohr Building and the State Natural History Museum.

About the position of Construction Project Manager

As a Construction Project Manager at Copenhagen University’s Campus Construction, you have a unique opportunity to help manage a large portfolio of maintenance and construction projects in the architectural part of a highly diverse building stock.

In your role as a Construction Project Manager, you will need to manage and facilitate collaboration among various types of people with different expertise in a complex and busy environment. Your strength lies in your project management skills combined with a solid understanding of the client’s perspective and experience within the construction industry.

You will work on a broad and exciting project portfolio, including both large and small projects. Larger projects may involve external renovation of gardener’s residences, establishment of freezer rooms, renovation of entire museum buildings, or preservation of historic properties to meet the new user requirements. Smaller projects may include floor repairs, auditorium bench repairs, or window renovations.

In the role of Construction Project Manager, it is desirable that you are a team player who can keep a cool head and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and with the desired quality. You also show commitment and independence in your work. You naturally excel in communication and have an interest in building relationships with those around you. You possess a proactive attitude and are not afraid to take the lead and make decisions.

Requirements for a construction project manager

In this position, it would be a significant advantage if you have several of the following competencies and experiences:

  • You have experience in the construction industry or from a facility management organization.
  • You are familiar with the construction contract system and have a clear understanding of the client’s role and tasks.
  • You have extensive experience in project management within a project organization.
  • You are adept at handling different areas of expertise and setting the direction so that the goal is clear to all members of the project team.
  • You are clear and precise in your communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • You are exceptionally skilled at stakeholder management and navigating a political organization with many and often conflicting opinions.
  • You are curious and eager to actively engage in both the professional and collegial everyday life and further development in Campus Construction.
