Cloud-tooling/Platform Engineer
Description
Ellab is a leading provider of innovative compliance solutions for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, with the business idea of “Providing the world’s leading life science and food manufacturing companies with high-quality validation, monitoring, and calibration solutions and services, as well as GMP consulting.”
Ellab’s product is moving towards a managed Cloud service raising the bar for how they develop and operate their software. To support this, they are looking for a Cloud-tooling/Platform Engineer for a newly formed Tooling Team responsible for helping them safely expand their Azure footprint, which they expect to grow many-fold over the coming year.
What will you be doing in the role?
As an engineer in their cloud-tooling team, you will be driving the adoption of the cloud across the R&D/product organization through the implementation of standardized tooling and processes. You are joining them at an early stage and will be a key player in the initial implementation as they’re starting from (near) greenfield.
The core vision for the team is to reduce the complexity and margin of error for the individual engineering team by building standardized platform capabilities, allowing product engineers to focus on the end-user value instead of their deployment. The initial focus will be especially on CI/CD, monitoring, and security & governance. Over time the team is expected to cover a larger part of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
The key responsibilities include to:
- Implement and maintain an Internal Developer Platform / Cloud Platform for use with both external- and internal-facing software.
- Enhance developer experience through platform engineering and cloud tooling.
- Collaborate with the R&D department to understand their needs and continuous improvements of workflows.
- Build and maintain the infrastructure in close collaboration with the R&D department.
- Standardize and optimize continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows and tools.
- Ensure automated testing is integrated into the CI/CD pipeline.
Skills and mindset you’ll bring to Ellab
Ellab’s system- and technology landscape is overwhelmingly Microsoft-based, meaning the cloud provider of choice is Azure and hands-on experience is a must. On the application level it is predominantly .NET (C#) and SQL Server so experience with these is a plus.
Having in the past worked on multi-tenant systems, managed systems, and/or SaaS systems in a heavily regulated industry (e.g. pharma, banking, manufacturing) is a plus in the role.
Given the early stages of the coming cloud platform, decisions around IaC, CI/CD tooling, and the like haven’t been finalized and are something they want you to contribute to.
The technology stack includes:
- Azure (containers, networking, databases, IAM)
- C# & .NET
- Azure DevOps w/Git
- SQL Server
- IaC tool TBD
What Ellab offers
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Chance to make a real impact on a growing company.
- Opportunity to develop your career in a supportive and international environment.
- They generally hold a flexible view of work-life balance and offer the opportunity to work from home when necessary.
More than just a job!
At Ellab, they take pride in being more than just a workplace. They have a very active Employee club, lots of social arrangements throughout the year, an annual skiing trip and fitness classes in their gym room.
Culturally, Ellab encourage a positive, welcoming and caring tone.
