The Danish Agency for Development and Simplification (UFST) is part of the Ministry of Taxation group, which collaborates with other units within the group. UFST has around 1,800 employees and offices in Copenhagen, Middelfart, and Aalborg. The Danish Tax Administration, an authority under the Ministry of Taxation, is undergoing a historic transformation of core IT systems across the group’s many business areas. UFST is therefore growing and needs employees who can strengthen internal knowledge of and insight into the systems portfolio, which is both operated and further developed in collaboration with a range of external suppliers.

As part of the government’s plan “From one to seven agencies – the tax administration 2021,” SKAT was replaced on 1 July 2018 by seven new agencies. The new agencies were established, each responsible for a core task, within a single legal authority under the Ministry of Taxation, ensuring smooth collaboration across all of the tax administration’s tasks. In collaboration with the Ministry of Taxation’s other agencies, UFST must develop a future-ready and secure digital administration, as well as simplify and develop IT solutions and business processes. At the same time, the agency is responsible for ensuring stable operation and maintenance of the tax administration’s existing IT systems.

The Department

In this position, you will be affiliated with the Individual Systems office at the Danish Agency for Development and Simplification, which has IT responsibility for a central task of importance to society – namely, delivering the Advance Tax Assessment and Annual Tax Assessment to 5 million taxpayers in Denmark, thereby ensuring citizens a correct tax calculation of more than DKK 500 billion.

The Individual and Property Systems department is responsible for the largest systems at UFST, and focuses, among other things, on ensuring that the advance and annual tax assessments are operationally stable and contain the latest changes to tax legislation for individuals and property. The office follows an annual cycle for the individual systems, and you will join a team of employees who ensure that the advance and annual assessment systems follow this cycle and are ready when, among other things, the annual assessment is released in March each year.

The office currently consists of 12 employees plus a Test Manager. The office’s core tasks are to ensure operations and thus stable support for a number of complex business processes, as well as a high degree of further development. The office facilitates dialogue both with the business areas regarding future system support and with suppliers regarding further development of the systems.

The Position

As Test Designer/Test Analyst, you will join an experienced team consisting of a number of system and process owners. You will also work together with the other testers, the department’s test manager, suppliers, and surrounding programs.

You will hold a role covering both the design and analytical sides of the work, split roughly 50/50 – you will therefore spend about half your time on execution and the other half responsible for analyzing test results. In other words, you will handle the testing process from A to Z.

A central part of the position also involves acting as an external consultant, playing a key role in assessing and aligning which test tools and methodologies would be relevant to optimize operations within the specialized agencies.

In addition, a central part of the work as Test Designer/Test Analyst will be to raise the test maturity level at UFST – both at the method and process level. At the same time, an essential part of the work is selecting and implementing test design techniques and test tools to ensure the best possible test quality and to assess which tests are most appropriate to use in a given case.

As Test Designer/Test Analyst, you will be responsible for the top of the test pyramid before the actual release period, and your role in the testing work will therefore be essential, as you act as the last link in the test process together with your fellow testers and the Test Manager.

Requirements

For this position, it is preferred that you have experience with:

• At least two years of experience from a similar position
• Test design techniques
• Strong technical understanding and experience navigating large, complex IT systems
• Quality standards and procedures for test execution
• Carrying out complete test cycles (test planning, execution, and closure)
• Time and resource management, and follow-up on these, in connection with test execution
• One or more test tools

In addition, it is an advantage if you have experience with:

• Code
• A larger organization in the public or private sector
• ISTQB certification
• Agile development, “build in quality,” and “shift left”
