About the position as IT Specialist – Network
In the role of Network Specialist in the Server, Network, and Integration team, you are not only responsible for managing and maintaining the municipality’s extensive network infrastructure, but you also have the opportunity to shape the future strategy for the network infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include establishing and configuring advanced network solutions in exciting projects, acting as a central partner and advisor in the municipality’s construction projects. Your work plays a crucial role in ensuring that the IT infrastructure operates reliably and efficiently.
You will also be responsible for coordinating, managing, and communicating with all the municipality’s vendors, as well as configuring essential security measures such as firewalls, VMware NSX, and VPN. Your tasks will also include the operation and maintenance of network equipment in the data centre, including the administration of rack systems and monitoring of power supply, cooling, and security.
The short-term goals include replacing access points and cleaning up the firewall, as well as outsourcing data centres. In the long term, the goal is to adhere to the network strategy that you and the team will help create.
You will also provide 2nd and 3rd level operational support for the municipality’s systems and infrastructure services, involving careful monitoring, maintenance, and competent support for operational support systems on the network side.
You will be part of the Server, Network, and Integration team, giving you an impact on establishing and developing the IT infrastructure of Denmark’s 6th largest municipality through complex business-oriented tasks related to 7,000 users. Collaboration is essential, as the team often has overlapping tasks and works closely together to deliver efficient service to end-users.
There is a focus on ensuring high availability and performance for critical systems and applications in the municipality’s data centre while meeting business needs and complying with standards and guidelines. The municipality also values the social environment in the workplace, offering monthly Friday bars as well as the possibility of remote work.
Expectations for IT Specialist – Network
Frederiksberg Municipality is looking for a committed employee who prioritises quality and sustainable solutions, has the ability to take responsibility, collaborate effectively, and meet deadlines. A proactive approach and problem-solving ability, including understanding the needs of users, are crucial. At the same time, technical versatility and adaptability, professionalism, and openness to different technological approaches are valued.
In addition, it is expected that you:
- Have experience in the operation and configuration of both wired (Fibre, MPLS, DSL, Ethernet) and wireless networks (Wi-Fi), including knowledge of network products and solutions such as Cisco
- Have experience with network security solutions and protocols such as 802.1x, WPA-Enterprise, and NLP, as well as firewall management and configuration
- Possess knowledge of data centre operations, including racks and cabling, with an interest in both physical and logical security
- Have experience with technical integrations between systems
- Have experience with vendor management, including the preparation of requirement specifications (development and documentation of technical requirements)
It is an advantage if you have experience or knowledge of:
- Zero-touch provisioning of network equipment
- PKI and certificate management (security infrastructure)
- VMware NSX
You will become part of the IT department under Analysis, Strategy, Digitalisation, and IT (ASDI), reporting to the manager of the Server, Network, and Integrations team.
